Winter sports in Türkiye
The roots of skiing in our country go back to courses opened in Erzurum in 1914; the sport entered its civilian era in 1933, when teachers from Galatasaray High School began skiing on Uludağ.
The Turkish national team's participation in the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Winter Olympic Games, together with our federation gaining official status that same year, marked a turning point in the institutional development of winter sports in Türkiye.
Today our federation organizes national and international competitions at centers such as Erzurum, Bursa-Uludağ, Kars-Sarıkamış, Bolu-Gerede and Palandöken.
